China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd. is a joint stock limited company established on September 29, 2002 by China Three Gorges Corporation as the main sponsor after being approved by the State Council by the former State Economic and Trade Commission. On October 28, 2003, the company first publicly issued 2,326,000,000 RMB ordinary shares, with a total share capital of 7,856,000,000 shares. On August 15, 2005, the company implemented a share-trading reform plan, and the total share capital was changed to 8,186,737,600 shares. In May 2007, the "CWB1" warrants were exercised, and the total share capital was changed to 9,412,085,457 shares. On September 28, 2009, the company implemented a major asset reorganization, and the total share capital was changed to 11,000,000,000 shares. On July 19, 2010, the company implemented a plan to convert capital reserves into share capital, and the total share capital was changed to 16,500,000,000 shares.

The company is currently the largest listed hydropower company in my country, mainly engaged in hydropower business. As of the end of the reporting period, the company owns all the power generation assets of the Gezhouba Power Station, the 26 generator sets of the left and right bank power stations that have been put into operation in the Three Gorges Project, 3 sets of underground power stations, and 2 sets of power plants, with a total installed capacity of 23.177 million kilowatts. In addition, the company has equity installed capacity of approximately 2,787,600 kilowatts through equity participation in power generation companies.

According to the preliminary design of the Three Gorges Project, the designed total installed capacity of the Three Gorges Power Stations on the left and right banks is 18.2 million kilowatts, consisting of 26 hydro-generator units with a single unit capacity of 700,000 kilowatts. The designed average power generation for many years is 84.7 billion kilowatt-hours, and the Three Gorges Power Station has 26 units. All units have been put into production. In order to improve the maintenance, reserve capacity and peak shaving capacity of the Three Gorges Power Station, and make full use of the hydropower resources of the Yangtze River during the flood season, the State Council Three Gorges Project Construction Committee approved the expansion of the underground power station on the right bank of the Three Gorges Project. A total of 6 underground power stations with a single unit capacity of 700,000 kilowatts were installed. Wheel generator sets, of which No. 28, No. 30, No. 31, and No. 32 have been put into operation in 2011, and No. 27 and No. 29 will be completed and put into production in 2012.
